Ariel Gail

Professor Gail S. Goodman is Distinguished Professor of Psychology and Director of the Center for Public Policy Research at the University of California Davis. She is widely acknowledged for launching the modern science of child eyewitness memories and utilizing child victims to serve as witnesses in court. Professor Goodman is an prolific writer who has received several awards and grants. She has advised a variety of government agencies and governments around all over the world on policy and research relating to the treatment of children victims by the legal system. She is an expert consultant to the Special Assault Forensic Evaluation Center (formerly Multidisciplinary Interview Center) of the Sacramento County Child Protective Services. She is a member of several professional associations such as those of the Association for Psychological Science and American Psychological Association. (Divisions Experimental Psychology Developmental Psychology Society for Children and Families Policy and Practice American Psychology Law Society Psychology of Women and Traumatic Stress 56) Professor Goodman is also a part of the Psychonomics Society Society for Research in Child Development American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (Founding member) International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect and International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies. She has served as the president of three divisions (Division Society for Child and Family Policy and Practice Division, American Psychology Law Society and Division Developmental Psychology) and one Section (Child Maltreatment) of the American Psychological Association.
